As we welcome the spring season we begin to see sunny days and greener grass. For many this is a sign to get ready to plant a garden.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Gardening is a great way to improve both your physical and mental well-being. Physical benefits include enjoying the delicious, nutritious, and fresher foods that you can take from your garden and serve for dinner.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

The time you spend working on the garden will not be wasted as you will give your muscles a work-out in the sun, helping you to lose weight through the exercise and healthy foods that gardening provides.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Mentally, gardening is linked to many benefits such as boosting your mood, taking in fresh air, and the usual benefits from spending time in nature. Serving food from your own garden to your dinner table will also give you a sense of pride – knowing that the food you are consuming is by the work of your own time and energy.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Gardening is a meditative practice for many, and for families with young kids, it is a great tool to pass on. Having your kids take part in planting and managing the garden throughout the season is a great way to spark their interest, get them spending time outside, and promote a healthy and nutritious appetite.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

If you are a first time gardener there are many options available to you. One of the best ways to start is through container gardening.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Container gardening is when plants are grown in containers rather than in the ground. Using pots or larger containers outside is a great way to garden even when you are limited on space.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

If you live in an urban area with a small yard or even just a balcony, gardening is still an option! Containers make it easy to create space-efficient and mobile gardens that can be moved and arranged in whatever fashion you prefer.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Outdoor gardens in the ground can pose many issues, and can be much more time consuming. Picking\/containing weeds, and plant diseases and protection are much more concerning for outdoor gardens, making it a more daunting task for novice gardeners.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Container gardening inside is also a great way to save on water and brighten your space if you do not have outdoor space available. Indoor plants are a great mood-booster as it adds a freshness and life to any room. Outdoor gardens require a lot of watering, much more than what you can depend on the rain for. Therefore having your containers inside allows you to be mindful of the water usage, while ensuring it is near windows for sun exposure.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

When operating your garden indoors you also give yourself the opportunity to garden all year long! Gardening is a great way to brighten your space and mood in the cold winter months and allows you to still plant and grow fruits and vegetables in the coldest of temperatures. Nothing tastes as good as the fruit and vegetables you have watched grow before your eyes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

So whether you are new to gardening or have been gardening for years, consider container gardening this spring.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

It is a great alternative to the traditional outdoor gardening if you have time or space constraints, while still allowing you to enjoy the fruits of your labor!<\/span><\/p>\r\n
